Seongnam public institutions launch 12 joint ESG projects

Nine public institutions located in Seongnam, South Korea, under the Seongnam Public Institutions Council, have announced a joint ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) action plan for 2026. The initiative focuses on two primary pillars: community-centered social contribution and regional economic revitalization through 12 collaborative projects.

Environmental efforts include a plogging event scheduled for September 30 at the Tancheon stream area. Social initiatives aim to support the local economy by connecting social solidarity economy enterprises and companies producing goods for the severely disabled with the priority purchasing needs of public institutions. Additionally, the council will provide career and employment mentoring for university students volunteering in local study rooms.

In terms of governance, the institutions will promote transparency and accountability through exchanges between public audit bodies and the operation of advisory groups for preventing conflicts of interest. The Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities is set to lead an AI practical exchange network to improve services for vulnerable groups, while the Korea Petroleum Management Service will participate in nine of the twelve projects, including expanding public data-based services for the transportation vulnerable.
