Seongnam restaurant targeted in vandalism and pesticide attack

Police in Seongnam are investigating a targeted attack on a Chinese restaurant in Bundang-gu, where unidentified suspects broke into the establishment during the early morning hours of the 24th.

CCTV footage shows two masked men breaking through a reinforced glass back door at approximately 2:40 AM. The suspects remained inside for about an hour, during which they damaged furniture, scratched the cash register, and sprayed a black liquid throughout the premises. Investigators recovered several empty containers of pesticides and insecticides at the scene.

The restaurant owner reported a suspicious odor coming from food ingredients and expressed concern that the suspects may have intentionally contaminated them. The owner also suggested a potential motive related to the restaurant's name, noting that they have received protests and calls for several months because the name is identical to that of a prominent Chinese political figure. A similar incident involving black spray paint occurred two months ago.

Bundang Police are currently analyzing the food ingredients for chemical substances and tracking the suspects' escape route using local surveillance footage.
