Señor de los Milagros festivities begin across Peru

The religious festivities of the ‘Mes Morado’ have commenced across Peru, centered on the devotion to the Señor de los Milagros. In Lima, the first procession took place on October 3, drawing thousands of devotees to the Santuario de las Nazarenas. The event involved significant traffic restrictions in the Cercado de Lima, affecting major avenues such as Tacna and Emancipación, and requiring modifications to several public transport corridors.

Similar religious activities are being held in other regions. In Arequipa, the first procession saw a change in schedule to accommodate early masses, while in Puno, the festivities began with a procession dedicated to children.

There is also anticipation regarding the upcoming apostolic visit of Pope Leo XIV to Peru. Officials noted the possibility of the image of the Señor de los Milagros accompanying the Pope's mass at the Las Palmas Air Base on November 16, noting the Pontiff's historical connection and previous blessings of the image.
