Seoul expands childcare and learning support via local centers

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon announced plans to expand emergency childcare and learning support through the city's 417 local children's centers. During the 2026 Local Children's Center Workers Festival, the Mayor emphasized a vision for a city where parents can raise children with peace of mind.

Currently, these centers serve 11,281 children across 25 districts. Recent initiatives include the ‘Seoul Child Reliable Meal’ program, which provides balanced meals and seasonal fruit during school vacations to support dual-income and single-parent families. To accommodate irregular working hours, the city offers gap-care services, including all-day care during vacations and late-night care from 10:00 PM to midnight at 57 locations.

In addition to physical care, the city is enhancing educational support. Building on the ‘Seoul Learn’ platform, the city is piloting the ‘Seoul Learn Teacher Field-type Group Mentoring’ program to extend online learning support into the physical spaces where children live and study.
