South Korean childcare and education support initiatives

Overview

South Korean educational and municipal authorities have implemented several initiatives to enhance childcare services and children's rights. In the Dobong-gu area, the Seoul Remote Lifelong Education Institute partnered with the Dobong-gu Home Daycare Center Association to provide remote learning infrastructure for childcare staff training. Simultaneously, the Guri-Namyangju Office of Education and Namyangju City established an agreement to implement participatory education programs aimed at fostering a child-friendly city.

Expanding on these efforts, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon announced plans to utilize 417 local children's centers to provide emergency childcare and learning support. These services include the ‘Seoul Child Reliable Meal’ program for nutritional support and ‘gap-care’ services, such as late-night care until midnight, to assist dual-income and single-parent families. Furthermore, the city is integrating digital and physical learning through the ‘Seoul Learn’ platform and new teacher mentoring programs.
