Seoul implements Chuseok holiday safety and convenience measures
Seoul is implementing various measures to ensure safety and convenience during the upcoming Chuseok holiday. The Seoul Facilities Corporation announced that 61 public parking lots across the city will be free to use from September 24 to 27.
To manage the expected 170,000 visitors to municipal funeral and memorial facilities, additional traffic control personnel will be deployed. Special services include free shuttle buses at the Yongmi-ri municipal cemetery and the introduction of an AI-powered ‘digital memorial altar’ at the Yongmi-ri 2 cemetery, allowing visitors to use QR codes to display memorial messages and photos.
In Jung-gu, local authorities are hosting a free vehicle inspection event on September 13 at Heungin Elementary School. In collaboration with the Seoul Automobile Professional Maintenance Business Association, the event aims to prevent accidents during long-distance travel by providing free checks on engine oil, brake fluid, and consumables like wipers and light bulbs. To reduce congestion, the inspection will be organized into time slots based on the residents' neighborhoods.
