Seoul selects 11 new sites for urban housing project to supply 18,000 units

South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has selected 11 new candidate sites for the ‘Urban Public Housing Complex Project’ in Seoul. This initiative aims to supply approximately 18,000 housing units across 10 major districts to address urban residential demand.

The selected sites include six transit-oriented residential-commercial high-density zones and five low-rise residential revitalization zones. Notable locations include a large-scale site near Hyochang Park Station in Yongsan-gu, which is expected to provide roughly 4,040 units, as well as new project sites in Seocho-gu near Isu Station and Mapo-gu near Mangwon Sports Park.

The government plans to hold resident briefing sessions in October, with the goal of designating project districts in the first half of 2027 and commencing construction by the second half of 2030. Additionally, a new public tender for the Seoul metropolitan area is scheduled for the first half of next year.
