Seoul suspect Na (52) charged with murder, prior child sex offenses and drug use

A 52‑year‑old man identified as Na was arrested for the murder of a 50‑year‑old woman in an office‑tel in Seoul's Su‑yu district. Police say Na used a weapon to kill the victim in the early hours of 28 May and was subsequently taken into custody.

Investigations revealed that Na has a history of 15 convictions for sexual offenses against children and adolescents under 13, for which a court ordered a five‑year electronic monitoring device. In addition, forensic analysis detected cannabis and methamphetamine (phencyclidine) residues in seized material and in Na’s body. The case was reclassified as robbery‑murder, and the suspect faces charges of homicide, aggravated robbery and violations of drug control laws.

The National Forensic Service provided the drug test results, and the Seoul Metropolitan Police are preparing additional evidence for prosecution. Na remains in detention pending trial.
