September 11 survivors recount experiences at the World Trade Center

Reflections on the September 11 attacks highlight the personal stories of those impacted by the destruction of the World Trade Center. Edna Cintrón, an administrative assistant at Marsh & McLennan working on the 93rd floor of the North Tower, became a symbol of the tragedy. Captured in photographs and video, she was seen seeking help from within the impact zone after American Airlines Flight 11 struck the building between the 93rd and 99th floors.

In another account, Inez Ribustello, a beverage manager at the Windows on the World restaurant complex, survived the attacks because she was in North Carolina for her sister's wedding. The restaurant, which occupied the top floors of the towers, was a renowned New York destination known for its views and strict dress code. While Ribustello survived, 79 of her colleagues at the establishment did not.
