Serang initiates Rp9 billion drainage project to mitigate long-term flooding

The Banten Provincial Government and the Serang City Government have launched a drainage construction project valued at over Rp9 billion to address long-standing flooding in the Bumi Agung Permai (BAP) 1 housing complex. Residents in the RW 12 area of Unyur Village have reportedly faced seasonal flooding for nearly 20 years.

Serang Mayor Budi Rustandi inspected the site on August 31, 2026, following instructions from Banten Governor Andra Soni. The project, managed by the Banten Provincial Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (DPUPR), involves construction at three strategic locations: long storage, crossing Kepandean, and Muara Warung Jaud.

The drainage system features significant dimensions, with a top width of approximately 4 meters, a bottom width of 3 meters, and a depth of 2 meters. At the BAP 1 site alone, the channel extends approximately 530 meters. The project is targeted for completion by December 2026.
