Seraphim Papagiannis ordained as deacon in Trikala

Seraphim Papagiannis was ordained to the first degree of the priesthood as a deacon during a Holy Vigil at the Holy Temple of Zoodochou Pigi Saragion in Trikala. The ceremony was conducted by Metropolitan Joseph of Proikonnisos, who has known the new cleric for at least sixteen years.

Prior to the ordination, Papagiannis, formerly known as Vasileios, was tonsured as a monk at the Holy Temple of Agios Nikolaos in Fiki. During this process, he received the monastic name Seraphim under Metropolitan Theofylaktos of Caesarea.

The ordination was attended by several high-ranking clergy, including Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Trikala, Gardiki and Pyli, Bishop Bartholomew of Eleia, and Bishop Joachim of Kigali and Rwanda. In his address, Metropolitan Joseph emphasized the spiritual responsibilities of the clerical life, noting that the path involves significant duty and a commitment to virtue and charity.
