Greek Orthodox Church deacon ordinations

Overview

In October 2026, two separate ordination ceremonies for the diaconate took place within the Greek Orthodox Church.

In Trikala, Seraphim Papagiannis was ordained as a deacon by Metropolitan Joseph of Proikonnisos during a Holy Vigil at the Holy Temple of Zoodochou Pigi Saragion. Prior to this, Papagiannis had been tonsured as a monk at the Holy Temple of Agios Nikolaos in Fiki.

Later in the month, Metropolitan Paul of Corinth presided over the ordination of Elias Markantonis at the Holy Church of Saint Gerasimos in Lechai. The ceremony occurred during a Divine Liturgy celebrating the feast of Saint Gerasimos of Kefalonia.
