Serbia launches stipend program for students entering 36 deficit occupations

The Serbian Office for Dual Education released a list of 36 occupational profiles that are in shortage for the 2026/27 school year. Pupils who enroll in any of these fields—including electrician, chef, baker, carpenter, auto‑electrical technician and others—will receive a monthly allowance of 5,000 dinars for nine months, financed through a dedicated account at Pošta Štedionica. The programme follows the 2023 law supporting dual education, which combines classroom study with on‑the‑job training under accredited employers. Participants will split their time between school and workplace, gaining market‑relevant skills while being compensated for their learning.

The list was compiled based on labour‑market needs, previous student interests and employer demand, aiming to address skill gaps and improve youth employment prospects.
