Serbia becomes popular visa-free destination for Turkish tourists

Serbia has emerged as a popular travel destination for Turkish citizens due to its visa-free entry policies and proximity. Turkish passport holders can visit the country for up to 90 days within a 180-day period without a visa.

Direct flights from Istanbul to Belgrade take approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes, making the country an ideal location for short weekend trips. Travelers often find Serbia more budget-friendly than many Eurozone countries, as the local currency is the Serbian Dinar (RSD).

Key attractions for tourists include the Kalemegdan Fortress and Knez Mihailova Street in Belgrade, as well as natural sites like Tara National Park and the Uvac Canyon. Cultural and culinary similarities between Turkey and the Balkans also contribute to the ease of travel for Turkish visitors.

Travelers are reminded to maintain a passport valid for at least six months and may be required to present proof of accommodation, return tickets, and sufficient financial means at the border. Additionally, visitors must register with local police via their hotel or host within 24 hours of arrival to obtain a ‘white card’ (Beli Karton).
