Serbia enhances police training and unveils new domestic armored vehicles

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić visited the Mitrovo Polje training center to mark the tenth anniversary of specialized training focused on detecting and decommissioning illegal psychoactive substance laboratories. The facility utilizes equipment seized from criminal groups and has received technical support from the U.S. Department of Justice. Since 2015, the center has trained police officers from across Europe and the region, earning recognition from international agencies such as Europol, the UN, and the DEA.

During a separate visit to the Police Brigade's Special Unit, Dačić inspected new equipment, including a domestically produced light multi-purpose armored vehicle from the Zastava TERVO factory. The 4x4 vehicle features ballistic protection and can transport between 8 and 10 personnel. It is designed with configurations that allow for safe operation during ambushes, including a rear section equipped with a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun turret.
