Serbia heating season begins amid rising pellet prices
The heating season in Serbia officially commenced on October 15, following an early start in Belgrade due to low morning temperatures. In Belgrade, JKP ‘Beogradske elektrane’ has begun thermal energy delivery, advising citizens to report water leaks or total building heating failures.
For households using individual heating systems, experts recommend checking installation pressure, circulation pumps, and radiator valves. Issues such as trapped air in radiators may require bleeding to ensure even heating. Residents connected to district heating are advised to coordinate with building managers before attempting repairs.
Simultaneously, households relying on pellet heating face significant financial pressure as pellet prices have risen by approximately 50% compared to last year. Prices at most warehouses currently range from 42,000 to 48,000 dinars per ton, with some reaching 52,000 dinars. Experts attribute this surge to high demand and early procurement by households. Imported A1 grade pellet remains the most expensive option.
