Serbia launches 66.3 million euro school renovation project

Serbia has initiated a 66.3 million euro project to reconstruct and build 126 primary schools across the country. Supported by the World Bank, the investment aims to modernize classrooms and equipment in both densely populated and rural areas.

A key component of the initiative is a pilot program in 20 selected schools to implement an all-day teaching model. This model is designed to provide students with more time for learning and extracurricular activities, while also strengthening the educational and social influence of schools. Additionally, the Ministry of Education plans to update curricula to include robotics and artificial intelligence.

Separately, the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported a significant increase in traffic violations near school zones during a recent enforcement campaign. Authorities recorded 44,561 offenses, marking a 110.4 percent increase compared to the previous year. The majority of sanctions were issued for speeding, alongside violations for illegal parking and mobile phone use while driving.
