Serbia opens first humanoid robot factory in Šabac

Serbia has inaugurated its first humanoid robot factory in Šabac, operated by the Minth Group in collaboration with Shanghai-based AGIBOT. The initial €20 million investment aims to establish a high-tech manufacturing hub, with plans to eventually produce up to 20,000 units annually, including humanoid robots, robotic dogs, and drones.

President Aleksandar Vučić announced that the facility will initially employ approximately 200 people. The project is part of a broader strategic initiative, including a planned €200 million Robotics Industrial Park in Inđija. This expansion is expected to include the production of advanced battery systems for UAVs and robots, supported by a €100.5 million investment from China’s Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech.

Beyond manufacturing, Serbian officials plan to develop a robot training center in Kragujevac and a Serbian language model to enable robots to communicate locally. While the technology is intended for civilian use in agriculture, healthcare, and industry, President Vučić noted that robotic platforms equipped with remote-controlled weaponry will be demonstrated by the Serbian Armed Forces within 15 days.
