Serbia manages wildfire risks in Alibunar and Kladovo

Authorities in Serbia are managing wildfire risks across multiple regions. In Alibunar, the Emergency Situations Headquarters reports that the situation in the Deliblatska Peščara area is stable, though several fires caused by human negligence have been recorded recently.

Officials have issued an appeal to citizens to refrain from burning stubble, plant remains, or waste in open areas during high temperatures. Legal penalties for violating fire protection laws include fines ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 dinars for individuals and 300,000 to 1,000,000 dinars for legal entities. Those responsible for starting fires may also be required to reimburse firefighting costs.

In Kladovo, the state of emergency has been lifted for the settlements of Velesnica, Velika Kamenica, and Podvrška after a fire affected approximately 1,300 hectares. While the fire has been liquidated and about twenty residential buildings were saved, authorities warn that the danger of fire remains high. Serbia has also accepted assistance from the European Union to aid in firefighting efforts, primarily focused on the Deliblatska Peščara region.
