Dubrovnik: Bosnian citizen dies by suicide after stealing security guard's pistol
A 31-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who was staying temporarily in Croatia, died by suicide after stealing a service weapon from a security guard in the Nova Mokošica neighborhood of Dubrovnik.
The incident occurred on a Thursday afternoon when the man approached a bank security guard and snatched a pistol from its holster during a brief conversation. After the theft, the suspect fled in a van, striking a parked vehicle before driving toward the exit of the settlement.
Following a police pursuit along the Adriatic Highway (D-8) near Trsteno, the vehicle was spotted heading toward Split. During the chase, a gunshot was heard from within the van. The vehicle eventually stopped at a roadside expansion in Slano, where police discovered the man's lifeless body. The deceased used the stolen weapon to commit suicide. The body has been transported to the pathology department of the Dubrovnik hospital for autopsy.
