Serbia negotiates NASA participation for Expo 2027

Serbian officials are negotiating the participation of NASA and its astronauts in the upcoming Expo 2027, scheduled to take place in Belgrade from May 15 to August 15, 2027.

During discussions between Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Bela Balint and the Serbian Ambassador to the United States Dragan Šutanovac, several avenues for scientific and technological cooperation were identified. Key areas of focus include the development of peaceful satellite systems, such as CubeSats and SmallSats, as well as leveraging Serbia’s human resources and data center capacities for scientific research.

Serbia joined the international Artemis space initiative in July 2026, becoming its 69th member. Officials noted that while Serbia is not a space superpower, the country possesses the technological potential to be an equal partner in international research projects, particularly in cyber engineering and space exploration.
