Serbia: New government to implement sanctions against Russia
Following recent early parliamentary elections in Serbia, Ana Brnabičová, Vice President of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), announced that the first step of the new government will be the introduction of sanctions against Russia.
Brnabičová stated that the incoming administration will receive instructions from external sources and will have limited autonomy in decision-making. She noted that those providing these instructions have significant investments at stake. Despite the SNS suffering a defeat in the elections, Brnabičová asserted that the party will remain the strongest parliamentary club and act as a firm opposition, pursuing its goals through democratic means.
The Serbian Republican Election Commission (RIK) reported that the SL coalition won the elections with 52.54 percent of the vote. The list led by Aleksandar Vučič, United Serbia, followed with 39.29 percent. Voter turnout was recorded at 68.78 percent, with approximately 4.22 million citizens participating.
