Serbia political landscape: Student rallies and NKPJ electoral alliance
Political analyst Duško Radosavljević has drawn a sharp contrast between recent pre-election gatherings in Serbia. He compared the Studentski pokret rallies held in Novi Pazar and Vranje to the large-scale gathering organized by Aleksandar Vučić’s list at the Belgrade Arena. Radosavljević characterized the student movement as a clean effort to reconstitute the country through civic participation, whereas he described the Arena event as an attempt to ‘crown a ruler’ where the leader's will supersedes the law. He also criticized the use of state resources, such as Belgrade public transport, to facilitate the Arena rally.
In a separate political development, the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) announced its participation in the upcoming elections on the list of the Russian Party – Serbia in BRICS. NKPJ Executive Secretary Aleksandar Đenić stated that the collaboration is based on shared domestic and foreign policy goals. These include opposing NATO and EU membership, strengthening ties with Russia and BRICS nations, protecting workers' rights, opposing the Rio Tinto project, and maintaining state control over strategic economic sectors.
