Serbia projects leading European GDP growth driven by Expo 2027
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Siniša Mali has projected that Serbia could become the fastest-growing economy in Europe next year. Mali raised the GDP growth forecast for this year to 3.3 percent and anticipates growth exceeding 4 percent in 2027, driven by investments related to the upcoming Expo 2027.
During an inspection of the Aviation Museum reconstruction works in Surčin, Mali highlighted significant cultural investments intended to prepare the country for the specialized exhibition. The museum's modernization, which includes the construction of three new hangars and a complete renovation of the main hangar, is expected to be completed by May 2027. The project aims to provide new exhibition spaces, restoration workshops, and visitor facilities.
Other ongoing cultural infrastructure projects mentioned include the Historical Museum of Serbia at the former Belgrade Main Railway Station, a new Natural History Museum, an Archaeological Museum, and a new Nikola Tesla Museum designed by the architectural firm ZHA Architects.
