Serbia ranks among the world’s fastest‑growing tourist destinations with nearly 7% visitor rise

Serbian tourism authorities announced that the country has entered the UN World Tourism Organization’s list of the ten fastest‑growing tourist destinations, despite having no coastline. In the first five months of the year the number of both domestic and foreign visitors grew by 6.8‑6.9%, and officials expect a record‑breaking total by year‑end.

Tourism Minister Husein Memić said the largest influx of foreign tourists comes from Turkey and Russia, with notable increases from North Macedonia, Bosnia‑Herzegovina and Slovenia, while arrivals from China fell slightly. The government is also expanding rural tourism, raising the number of registered village‑based tourism households from about 700 three years ago to roughly 1,900 today. Key promotion spots this season include Golubac, the Danube river corridor, as well as the towns of Pešter and Novi Pazar.
