The Executive Board of the National Bank of Serbia has revoked the operating license of Alta Banka AD Belgrade. The decision follows a rapid deterioration in the institution's liquidity, which threatened its ability to meet current obligations and posed a risk to depositors.

The bank has entered insolvency proceedings under the management of the Deposit Insurance Organization (AOD). All deposits from individuals, entrepreneurs, and small to medium-sized enterprises are fully insured up to 50,000 euros (or the equivalent in dinars) per depositor. Customers with balances exceeding this limit must claim funds through the liquidation process.

The revocation follows reports of significant capital outflows. Some reports suggest large-scale transfers to North Macedonia and Russia, while others indicate massive withdrawals by both individuals and legal entities. Amidst the transition of power following the October 25 elections, the Student List (Studentska Lista) has called for increased oversight of cross-border financial transactions to prevent capital flight during the government formation period.
