UEFA sanctions Serbia with closed-door match against Germany
UEFA has officially sanctioned the Serbian Football Association, ordering that their Nations League match against Germany on November 13, 2026, in Belgrade be played behind closed doors. The decision follows incidents of racist and discriminatory behavior by Serbian supporters during recent matches against Greece and the Netherlands.
In addition to the spectator ban, the Serbian FA must pay a fine of 50,000 euros. The ruling also prevents German away fans from attending the match at the Rajko Mitić Stadium, despite previous attempts by the Serbian association to allow limited access for children and approximately 2,000 German supporters.
There may be minor exceptions for children up to 14 years old, provided they attend as part of organized school or club groups with appropriate supervision. For the German national team, coached by Jürgen Klopp, the match is a critical fixture in Nations League Group A2 as they compete for a quarter-final spot.
