Serbian citizens to receive free shares payout of about 6,000 dinars

The Serbian government will distribute a payment of roughly 6,000 dinars to every adult citizen at the end of September. The money comes from the Akcionarski fond, a pool created in 2010 that accumulated assets from privatizations, bankruptcies, returned shares and dividends and now holds just under 30 billion dinars.

Around 4.8 million people are entitled to the payout because they automatically own free shares issued under the 2007 law on free share distribution. Each citizen received five shares of Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), one share of Aerodrom Beograd, 31 shares of Telekom Srbija and seven shares of the Akcionarski fond itself, which translates to an estimated 55 euros per person.

Citizens can verify whether they still hold these shares by visiting a post office or a Poštanska štedionica with a personal ID card, where staff will confirm ownership. The broker Branislav Jorgić estimates the total disbursement will be about 55 euros per citizen.
