Europe weather shift brings severe storms and temperature drops
Europe is facing a dramatic weather shift as a prolonged period of extreme heat is interrupted by a powerful cold front. This meteorological transition is expected to trigger intense thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and potential severe weather across several regions, including the Alps, the Western Balkans, and parts of Central Europe.
In Croatia, high-level warnings have been issued for northern Dalmatia and the Zadar area, with risks of flash floods, large hail, and tornadoes. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, meteorologists warn that while heavy rainfall is expected, the hydrophobic state of the parched soil may prevent the end of the current drought, as the ground cannot effectively absorb the water.
Across Central Europe, including Germany and Slovenia, temperatures are projected to drop significantly. In some areas, temperatures that previously reached 35 to 40 degrees Celsius could fall by 15 to 20 degrees within 24 hours. Slovenia is also bracing for heavy rain and storms, with meteorologists advising against mountain visits due to unstable conditions.
