Serbian Actress Biljana Čekić Hospitalized After Serious Traffic Crash, Starts Recovery

Biljana Čekić, an 18‑year‑old Serbian actress best known for playing the title role in the film “Dara iz Jasenovca”, was involved in a traffic accident near Banja Luka. She lost control of her car in the village of Verići, drove through a protective barrier and fell from a bridge.

Two other women were in the vehicle and sustained only minor injuries. Čekić suffered fractures of the pelvis, leaving her unable to walk and requiring hospitalization.

During her stay she received visits and a gift from friends and family. She thanked supporters, saying she was “fine, in the hospital and recovering, unable to walk because of a pelvic fracture, but getting better day by day and will be fine.”

Medical staff estimate her recovery will take three to six months.
