Serbian athletes win medals at Mediterranean Games in Taranto

Serbian athletes have secured multiple medals at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto. Greco-Roman wrestler Aleksandar Komarov won the gold medal in the up to 97 kg category after defeating Italy’s Nicolò Casellati with a 3:1 score.

In the same discipline, Viktor Nemeš earned a bronze medal in the up to 87 kg category by defeating Turkey’s Doğan Kaya 7:5 in the repechage. Additionally, 19-year-old taekwondo athlete Žarko Krajišnik secured a bronze medal in the 68 kg category following a victory over Spain’s Joan Jorquera in the quarterfinals and a loss to France’s Souleymane Alafilippe in the semifinals.

With these results, Serbia’s medal count at the games has reached nine, consisting of two gold, one silver, and six bronze medals. Other Serbian competitors, including badminton players Mihajlo Tomić and Anđela Vitman, have also advanced to semifinals in the mixed doubles event.
