Serbian Ministry of Culture earmarks 5 million dinars for Sahat Kuli restoration

The Serbian Ministry of Culture, represented by Minister Nikola Selaković, signed a contract with Prijepolje mayor Drago Popadić to allocate 5 million dinars for the restoration and conservation of the historic Sahat Kuli. The funding comes from the "Gradovi u fokusu" programme, which the ministry launched in 2016 to decentralise cultural development and support local municipalities. This year the programme earmarked a record 430 million dinars for projects in 31 Serbian towns and cities, bringing the total ten‑year investment to over 2.38 billion dinars.

Among the signed agreements are allocations for library reconstruction in Bela Palanka, equipment for cultural centres in Inđija and Ljig, museum scenography in Mionica, and additional funding for the cultural centre in Topola. The Sahat Kuli project is part of the ministry’s broader effort to preserve Serbia’s medieval cultural heritage, alongside ongoing work at the Mileševa monastery and other historic sites.
