Serbian Ministry secures funds for Niš Faculty of Philosophy salaries

The Serbian Ministry of Education has announced that budget funds have been secured for the payment of salaries at the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš. The Ministry stated that these funds were made available on October 20, as soon as the necessary conditions were met following the restructuring of the university.

The delay in funding was attributed to the need to determine the exact number of employees transferring from the Faculty of Philosophy to the newly established Faculty of Serbian Studies. The Ministry noted that it could not finalize the required budget amounts until the transfer of employees was officially processed.

The Ministry strongly denied allegations from political actors that the situation constituted ‘revenge and terror’ against employees. It clarified that while the Ministry provides a portion of the budget, the Faculty of Philosophy, as the employer, remains responsible for ensuring salaries are paid at least once a month in accordance with labor laws and higher education regulations.
