Serbian National Theatre ballet ensemble disputes management claims
Members of the Serbian National Theatre (SNP) ballet ensemble and soloists have issued statements regarding ongoing allegations of mobbing and professional misconduct against the ballet director, Aja Jung.
The ensemble expressed regret over Jung’s refusal to participate in a televised joint discussion with ballerinas who have filed lawsuits alleging workplace harassment. The dancers stated they were prepared for a public dialogue to present different perspectives on the long-standing issues within the ensemble.
Furthermore, the ensemble criticized the SNP Management Board for dismissing claims made by attorney Srđan Kovačević, who represents more than ten ballerinas. The dancers claim the management’s denials are untruthful attempts to cover up the actual working conditions. They also cited a court ruling from the First Basic Court in Belgrade, alleging it proved Jung lacks the necessary qualifications and competencies to lead a professional ballet ensemble according to the institution's regulations.
