Serbian official criticizes Croatian judiciary over Makarska incident

Miodrag Linta, President of the Association of Serbs in the Region, has called on the European Union Delegation in Zagreb to condemn the treatment of a 49-year-old Serbian citizen following an incident in Makarska, Croatia.

The incident involved a 43-year-old Croatian man pushing the Serbian citizen into the sea because he refused to remove a Red Star Belgrade sports jersey. While the attacker was released after police questioning, the Serbian citizen was ordered into 14 days of detention in a Split prison. The court's decision follows allegations that the man insulted Croatia and its citizens and glorified Ratko Mladić on social media.

Linta criticized the Croatian judiciary for what he described as a double standard, arguing that the physical assault was overshadowed by the legal actions taken against the victim.
