Serbian and Bosnian officials call for remembrance of 1992 Podrinje killings

Serbian Minister without portfolio Nenad Popović marked the 34th anniversary of the 1992 killings of Serbs in the Middle Podrinje and Birča region. He said preserving the historical truth about the crimes is a lasting duty to the victims and their families, and that remembrance is a prerequisite for a just peace. Popović noted that towns such as Bratunac, Srebrenica, Skelani and others were among the sites where "muslim perpetrators" killed Serbian civilians. Patriarch Porfirije will officiate a memorial service at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Bratunac, followed by a procession to the local cemetery.

Goran Selak, the Minister of Justice of Republika Srpska and leader of the Socialist Party of Srpska, also urged that the voice of Podrinje and the truth about the suffering of the Serbian people be heard worldwide. He hosted Patriarch Porfirije, American spiritual adviser to former President Donald Trump, and other guests, emphasizing that remembering innocent victims and preserving historical truth are essential for national identity and future security.
