Serbia Parliament sees heated debates over water and governance

The Serbian National Assembly has become a focal point for intense political debate, with opposition members and government officials trading sharp criticisms regarding governance, infrastructure, and national interests.

Opposition figures have raised several urgent concerns. Jelena Milošević highlighted severe water supply shortages in Bojnik and Doljevac, alleging that a private hydroelectric plant owned by a relative of a prison warden is impacting local access to water. In Zrenjanin, Nataša Velemir criticized the city's inability to manage water supply and discrepancies regarding the number of available water tankers. Additionally, Jelena Spirić questioned the financial decline of the Simpo company, and Milenko Jovanović accused the opposition of relying on hatred rather than constructive programs.

On the other side, government representatives defended their administration. Minister Nikola Selaković denied allegations regarding the transfer of land in Belgrade, calling claims about the Generalštab site a fabrication. Milen Jovanović argued that the current administration is working to improve a system previously damaged by corruption. Other officials emphasized the importance of demographic stability and defended the government's economic and social policies against what they termed as irresponsible political attacks.
