Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic Announces $1 Billion Road and Tunnel Project in Užice Region
President Aleksandar Vucic visited the village of Dreznik near Užice, where he met residents from Užice, Požega and the wider Zlatar area and was welcomed with a traditional reception under flag‑decorated tents.
He announced that construction of the highway from Užice to Kotoroman on the border with Republika Srpska will be accelerated, with about €1 billion earmarked for projects in the Užice region, including a €100 million health centre.
Vucic said the 6.2‑km tunnel under Kadinjača will begin work in two months after a tender that received three bids ranging from €105 million to €147 million. He added, "If we build that highway from Užice to Kotoroman we will solve Western Serbia…".
