Prime Minister Đuro Macut told citizens that Serbia’s energy system is stable and that the country currently has enough electricity. He said the responsible institutions – Elektroprivreda Srbije, Elektromreža Srbije and the relevant ministry – monitor the situation every day and are taking all necessary measures to ensure reliable supply.

Macut warned that a prolonged heat wave, extremely low water levels and a surge in electricity consumption create a serious challenge for Serbia and the wider region. Reduced river inflows mean hydroelectric plants are operating under difficult conditions, adding pressure to power production.

He stressed that the next twenty days are especially critical and appealed to the public to use electricity responsibly – turning off devices that are not in use, operating air‑conditioners prudently, and recognising that every saved kilowatt improves the security of the whole system. The government will act to prevent any adverse impact on citizens from the unfavorable weather.
