Serbian Progressive Party activists block Novi Sad bridge
Activists from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) blocked traffic on the Varadin Bridge in Novi Sad on Tuesday morning. The demonstration involved unfurling a large banner across both lanes of the bridge reading “Živela ujedinjena Srbija” (“Long live united Serbia”).
The action took place on September 15, a date marking the Day of Serbian Unity, Liberty, and the National Flag. The protest occurred during the campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25, where the list led by President Aleksandar Vučić includes the phrase “United Serbia.”
Traffic police temporarily halted vehicles on both sides of the bridge to allow the performance, redirecting motorists to alternative routes. The activists quickly unfurled and then collected the banner before leaving the scene.
