Serbian Progressive Party election campaign activities

Overview

During the campaign for the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25, the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has engaged in various promotional activities.

On September 15, activists from the SNS blocked traffic on the Varadin Bridge in Novi Sad to unfurl a banner reading “Živela ujedinjena Srbija” (“Long live united Serbia”). The demonstration coincided with the Day of Serbian Unity, Liberty, and the National Flag.

By early October, the party deployed a mobile installation called the ‘Black Box’ in cities including Belgrade, Kragujevac, and Subotica. The installation features a dark container filled with debris and screens looping footage of protests. The SNS uses the display to suggest that losing power would result in “22 months of violence” and chaos. Critics, such as the Democratic Community of Vojvodina Hungarians (VMDK), have condemned the installation as a tool for “fear-mongering” and “primitive defamation,” alleging that the footage is manipulative and omits instances of government aggression.
