Serbian tourism chief warns drivers of steep fines and scams for travelers to Greece

Aleksandar Seničić, director of Serbia's National Association of Tourist Agencies (YUTA), issued a warning for Serbian motorists travelling to Greece. He said stricter traffic‑safety rules are now enforced and fines for certain violations can reach several hundred euros, with the possibility of temporary seizure of the vehicle's registration plates.

Seničić reminded travelers to verify that passports are valid for at least three months beyond the planned return date and to carry required documents: a green card for trips to North Macedonia and an international driving permit (the "yellow card") for drivers who do not own the vehicle.

He also cautioned against a rise in accommodation scams on social media, urging tourists to book lodging through reputable travel agencies or verified reservation systems. Parents were advised to obtain consent forms for minors traveling with adults and to photograph personal documents for easier identification if they are lost or stolen.
