Serbian university tuition fees rise at seven faculties

New tuition rates for self‑financing students will take effect in the upcoming academic year at seven Serbian faculties, including the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON), the Mechanical Faculty, the Faculty of Economics, the Law Faculty, the Philology Faculty, the Technical Faculty in Bor and the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education. FON’s fee is set to increase about 5 % from 171,000 to 180,000 dinars, while the Architecture Faculty in Belgrade will charge up to 300,000 dinars per year (420,000 dinars for foreign students). Other programs listed include the Electrical Engineering faculty (282,000 dinars for software engineering), the Mechanical Faculty (108,000 dinars for mechanical engineering and 180,000 dinars for information technology in machinery), and the Medical Faculty (126,600 dinars). The hikes are justified by officials as aligning with inflation over the past two years and are expected to place a heavier financial burden on parents and students.

The tuition changes affect thousands of self‑financing students across Serbia’s major public universities and may influence enrollment decisions and the broader discussion on higher‑education financing in the country.
