Serbia prepares for extraordinary parliamentary elections on October 25

Serbia is preparing for extraordinary parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25. The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) has declared 17 electoral lists so far, following the withdrawal of the list led by Miroslav Miki Aleksić, Miloš Parandilović, and Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta. Notable declared lists include the coalition led by Aleksandar Vučić (SNS) and the Studentska lista (Students Win), which has received approximately 69,099 valid voter statements of support.

The deadline for submitting electoral lists to the RIK is October 4 at midnight. Additionally, the deadline for Serbian citizens residing abroad to apply to vote from their place of residence was October 3.

Campaigning is active across the country, with the Studentska lista holding rallies in cities such as Novi Pazar, Vranje, and Smederevo. Meanwhile, political tension remains, with some groups calling for electronic voting to prevent obstructions for the diaspora, and reports of increased pre-election campaign violence.
