Serbia's Vučić inspects EXPO 2027 construction site

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited the EXPO 2027 construction site in Surčin alongside Chinese Ambassador Li Ming to inspect progress on the specialized international exhibition complex. The visit included Finance Minister Sinisa Mali and EXPO Director Danilo Jerinić.

Vučić reported that the residential building for participants is complete, with the first 600 apartments expected to be fully equipped within weeks. He also noted the ongoing construction of a 400-room hotel, which is set to become the second-largest hotel in Serbia. Vučić expressed a desire to sell these apartments at lower prices to young people after the exhibition, noting a disagreement with the government regarding higher profit margins.

To accelerate the project, approximately 1,000 additional workers from China are expected to arrive. Vučić emphasized the need to speed up remaining tasks, such as landscaping and horticulture, to ensure Serbia is ready to host the event, which is scheduled to run from May 15 to August 15, 2027.
