Serena Williams honored with new Barbie Signature doll

Mattel has released a new Barbie Signature doll honoring tennis champion Serena Williams, specifically celebrating her 2005 Australian Open victory. The collectible recreates the green-and-white outfit worn during her seventh Grand Slam singles title win, featuring a cutout top with mesh detailing, a white skirt, a sweatband, and matching tennis shoes. The doll also includes a Wilson racket and a tennis ball.

Released ahead of International Day of the Girl, the tribute aims to inspire young athletes. Williams expressed that the doll represents a message for girls to pursue big goals and overcome boundaries, noting that she did not see many girls who looked like her growing up. In conjunction with the launch, the Barbie Dream Gap Project will donate to Mrs. Rina's House of Blessings at Williams' request.
