Mattel releases Serena Williams Barbie honoring 2005 Australian Open win

Mattel has launched a new Barbie Signature doll celebrating tennis icon Serena Williams and her victory at the 2005 Australian Open. The collectible features the lime green and white outfit Williams wore during her seventh Grand Slam singles title win, complete with a tennis racket, ball, and matching accessories.

This release marks Williams’ second collaboration with Barbie in 2026. While her first doll, released for International Women’s Day, focused on her career as an entrepreneur and investor, this new edition honors her athletic legacy. Williams noted that the two dolls represent different sides of her identity: “It’s like two sides of me. It’s like the business side and the sports side.”

In conjunction with the launch, which coincides with International Day of the Girl, Mattel is making a donation to Mrs. Rina’s House of Blessings through the Barbie Dream Gap Project. The nonprofit supports children and families in Martin County, Florida, by providing educational and leadership training programs.
