Sergey Lavrov warns of European provocation and backs Mecca Agreement

Addressing potential tensions in Europe, Lavrov warned that a European provocation could trigger a conflict with Russia. Lavrov specifically targeted Germany, criticizing its leadership for what he described as the glorification of Nazi collaborators in Ukraine and referencing a recent drone incident at Leipzig airport.

In a separate diplomatic context, Lavrov praised the Mecca Agreement, a new defense alliance formed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. He suggested this pact could serve as the foundation for a broader collective security system in the Persian Gulf. Lavrov proposed that the alliance could expand to include Iran, Egypt, and Algeria, noting that the inclusion of Tehran would be a significant step toward regional security.
