Sergio Moro skips municipal candidates' forum as pre‑campaign spending draws scrutiny

During the 5th March of Municipal Legislators in Curitiba, the Union of Chambers, Councilors and Public Managers of Paraná (UVEPAR) held a sabatina for 2026 gubernatorial hopefuls. Senator Sergio Moro, PL, did not attend, while rivals Requião Filho, Luiz França, Sandro Alex and Rafael Greca spoke to thousands of municipal officials. His absence was attributed to scheduling conflicts and was seen as a political loss in a state where municipal networks are crucial.

At the same time, Moro faced renewed questions about his pre‑campaign finances. In a conversation with PL president Valdemar Costa Neto, Neto asked “vai ser juiz ou governador?” highlighting concerns over past electoral expense investigations that led to a petition for his Senate seat’s cancellation, although the Superior Electoral Court unanimously cleared him. Moro officially joined the PL in March, with Flávio Bolsonaro present, as he prepares for the 2026 Paraná governorship race.
