Spain battles series of forest fires in Granada province and Segurilla
Firefighters in Spain confronted a larger-than-usual blaze on the El Camino de Segurilla road, where intense night‑time flames prompted a heavy deployment of crews and renewed calls for caution amid soaring temperatures.
Within the same period, the province of Granada experienced four separate forest fires in just over 24 hours. The incidents occurred near the Negratín reservoir in Dehesas de Guadix, in the Sacromonte district of Granada city, close to the Granaíta shopping centre, and in the La Joya area of Peligros. Though none escalated into major emergencies, smoke plumes were visible from nearby roads and dozens of firefighters were mobilised to contain each fire.
